A Clean Energy Future

The Clean Energy Corridor is the opportunity for Maine to keep moving toward a clean energy future. According to the Maine Center for Business and Economic Research, the Clean Energy Corridor will add over a half-billion dollars to Maine’s economy by importing renewable hydro-electric power.

• Less CO2 – The Clean Energy Corridor will remove more than 3 million metric tons of carbon emissions from the region, the equivalent of taking 700,000 cars off the road each year.
• Green jobs – The project creates 1,600 construction jobs in Maine, jobs that have started in Somerset County and pay an average of $38 per hour
• Electric vehicles – The project provides $15 million for more electric vehicle infrastructure in Maine
• Community revenues – The Clean Energy Corridor is estimated to generate $18 million a year in new tax revenue for communities, that will support first responders, schools, local infrastructure, and tax relief
